About this position

Help improve life on earth by contributing to innovative space and scientific instrumentation. Envision it. Become an Optical Coatings Technician at TNO High Tech Industry. At TNO in Delft we deliver break-through technology used in climate research, earth and deep-space observation, and laser satellite communication meeting the ever growing demand for data. Work for global space agencies, leading semiconductor manufacturers, the nanofabrication industry, or internal clients like TNO's Quantum Technology Department.

What will be your role?

As our Technician Optical Coatings you'll produce optical coatings on lenses, mirrors and other optical components for the space and high-tech industry. These can be reflective, anti-reflective and filter coatings. You shall be responsible for the maintenance/cleaning of the coating equipment as well as testing equipment. The process steps also include the cleaning and inspecting of the optical components in a cleanroom before applying the coatings. After production of the coating layers you will measure and analyse the performance of the layers and perform quality tests. Carefully documenting the work is also in scope of this job. As well as design/sketch of tooling required for the coating process.
Together with the research engineers you will improve the performance of coatings and optimize the coating processes. You will also assess risks, manage any non-conformance and devise mitigation actions.
Your home base is the Optics Manufacturing team. In our team of process engineers, business developers and a project manager, you'll play a leading role in enhancing our optical coatings expertise. We work on site in Delft, where we have our cleanroom with coating machines, measurement equipment and in-house mirror production facilities.
